Did vladimir putin suffer a heart attack? Kremlin says..
The Kremlin has dismissed reports suggesting that President Vladimir Putin experienced a heart attack over the weekend. Unverified sources had indicated that the Russian leader collapsed in his bedroom due to a cardiac arrest on Sunday. Additionally, there were online images circulating that showed Putin with 'neck scars' while addressing a public event.
Rumors regarding Putin's declining health have been circulating consistently since Russia's invasion of Ukraine more than a year ago. Keen-eyed netizens have noted 'uncontrollable' tremors during his public appearances and have even raised suspicions of him using 'body doubles.' In April, the British publication Metro reported that the Russian President was dealing with 'severe head pain, blurred vision, and numbness of the tongue.'
The most recent claims seem to have originated from a Kremlin-tracking Telegram channel before being picked up by various news outlets. The Mirror reported that Putin had to be 'resuscitated' following a heart attack on Sunday. Express UK also highlighted claims that the President needed intensive care within his official residence.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Reuters as saying, "Everything is fine with him; this is absolutely another fake." He also dismissed the idea of Putin using a body double as 'absurd.' The Russian leader had previously denied these long-standing rumors during a 2020 interview. He did, however, mention that he had been offered the option to use one in the past for security reasons.
Peskov added on Tuesday, "This belongs to the category of absurd information hoaxes that a whole series of media discuss with enviable tenacity. This evokes nothing but a smile."
Meanwhile, Putin has continued with his packed schedule of meetings and public appearances this week. He is scheduled to meet with Russian religious leaders on Wednesday.
